Bigwig and Vervain :)
Vervain is a bully-looking rabbit soldier of General Woundwort. Here he doesn’t look the best, I’ll create a better design for him.
Bigwig. The most badass rabbit of the world. Fighting rats, cats and General Woundwort, infiltrating a militarized rabbit colony and saving lots of rabbits… I love him.
Two Efrafans, Groundsel and Chervil. I’m a bit puzzled because I’m not sure who was Chervil in the Hungarian translation (I’m Hungarian you know, and this is the first time I read the book in English). I only know he was Sherbyl in the movie and he was Blackavar’s guard, but not in the book.
Groundsel is a very loyal soldier of General Woundwort, but he is a good guy. I tried to give him some cat-tish look.
Two new rabbit portraits: Pipkin and Dandelion, two nice guys. :)
Pipkin…he always reminds me a hobbit. His name sounds almost like ‘Pippin’ and his shapes in the movie were round and chubby. :) I like him, he is the nearest of the rabbits for the word “cute”.
Dandelion is a storyteller and a very good runner. I tried to draw him similar to a hare, but I failed, his eyes are too big and I’m not satisfied with him at all.
A new character design: Cowslip. He was the favorit one to design, actually, I hate him in the story. I liked his act and look in the movie, it inspired me a lot.
Bluebell and Captain Holly, two more Watership Down rabbits.
Bluebell is a funny guy (he always reminded me Cuthbert from Stephen King’s Dark Tower) so I wanted to make him smirk. Well, I failed, his face looks a bit…strange.
Captain Holly… I like him. He’s just perfect. Maybe a bit too nice.
Those who escaped Efrafa. A portrait of Blackavar and Hyzenthlay.
Blackavar…well, maybe he is a bit too black and his ears are too much torn but I like him this way. When I read the chapter where we first met him… the most shocking part was as he said "the Council was merciful… I don’t remember anything else, sir…"
I liked Hyzenthlay. She was such a brave and strong-hearted doe. But I always wondered why she wasn’t the mate of Bigwig but Hazel. I liked her design in the movie that’s why she has blue eyes and dark fur.
Till now I made several rabbit portraits, I designed almost all of the characters, but there are very few which are colored. So after that, you should wait for me to color another few ones :)
They are Boxwood and Haystack, two of the rabbits from the hutch. I like Himalayan rabbits, they look so pretty. I tried to give them some Asian look, especially the female, to show their difference from the wild rabbits.
Here are the first two rabbit portraits of the coming-soon-soon-soon comic Watership Down comic. They are Blackberry and Silver.
Blackberry was the mind of the group, he found out thing like discovering the usage of the boat.
Silver was a young member of the Sandleford Owsla, who joined the group because the older ones always pulled his leg because of his fur-color.
You’ve probably seen it on DA, so it is no spoiler to upload it here. This is one of my… well, we can call it early character designs. They are the rabbits of Efrafa.
I’ve made more designs so far, colored an unclored portraits but I’ll only upload them when there will be more of them :) I don’t want to spoil everything!
